Miami Teachers Urge People to Donate PPE for the Reopening of Schools

Many teachers at Miami schools have been struggling with obtaining personal protective equipment to protect both themselves and their students

Teachers are essential when it comes to the lives of many young children ranging from about five to seventeen or eighteen. They help to shape the knowledge of children through teaching subjects such as writing, grammar, spelling, mathematics, science, history, and more along with helping them shape their individuality as well as how to interact with other students. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become increasingly hard to be able to give children the proper education that they need with online learning and even learning in person.

During the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, many teachers have been asking for donations of personal protective equipment, or PPE, to be able to not only keep themselves safe from the virus, but also to protect their students as well. While this problem is affecting many teachers throughout the world, it has become extremely difficult for teachers in Miami, Florida especially. Because they are struggling to reopen without the proper PPE equipment, students and teachers are both at risk for not being able to protect themselves using simple PPE equipment, such as face masks, hand sanitizer, antibacterial wipes, and much more.

The Ongoing Crisis in Miami, Florida With Essential PPE Kits

Miami Teachers are Asking for PPE Donations to Get Them Through the School Year

Miami teachers are asking for PPE donations so they can keep themselves and their students safe from COVID-19.

Many places all around the United States, and even around the world are struggling with getting enough personal protective equipment, or PPE for short. Personal protective equipment consists of items that you can put together to protect yourself from harmful bacteria, viruses, diseases, chemicals, and much more. During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it is essential to have PPE items consisting of face masks, gloves, paper towels, antibacterial wipes, hand sanitizer, and much more to ensure the safety of yourself and others.

As of now, Miami teachers are struggling to be able to get the amount of PPE that they need in order to reopen schools. While some Miami schools have taken the action needed to make sure they have enough PPE, others have not been able to obtain as much, causing delays in the reopening of many schools.

While many people such as Congresswoman Donna Shalala, a public works and infrastructure company, City Works, and even former Miami-Dade county mayor Alex Penelas donated for the cause, many Miami teachers and administrators are still unsure whether to open the doors to the schools or not. With not enough supplies, teachers cannot safely teach and students cannot safely learn in an environment where proper cleaning and self-cleaning is most needed.

  1. Face Masks

Face masks are the most important essential item that many Miami schools need. If you’re looking to donate today, then make sure to make face masks one of your top options for many reasons. Face masks are essential to help prevent both you and others from contracting COVID-19. With the use of a face mask covering both your nose and mouth, you can help to prevent the spread of the nasty virus by decreasing the spread of the little droplets that escape your mouth from coughing, sneezing, and even talking. Make sure to put face masks at the top of the list for the most important PPE items that Miami teachers desperately need!

  1. Hand Sanitizer

There’s nothing more important than practicing good hygiene with getting some hand sanitizer for both the teachers and students in Miami. Hand sanitizer is perfect to get for schools because it can be donated to both the teachers and the students to keep their hands clean after touching door handles, pencils, water fountains, and many more objects that can be very dirty, or have harmful germs living on them. Getting both individual bottles and even big bottles for both the teacher and the students to use would be perfect to help out the Miami teachers prepare for reopening schools!

  1. Gloves

Getting latex gloves are perfect when cleaning certain objects, or even touching objects that are known to be very dirty. Gloves are perfect to get whenever you’re cleaning, wiping down desks with antibacterial wipes, or even for teachers when they’re touching the belongings of some of their students. These items are perfect for PPE kits because they help someone to avoid touching dirty objects that they may not want to touch. A Miami school teacher would greatly appreciate these to disinfect all of the desks that they have to clean before their next group of students come in, so make sure to add it to the list of most important PPE items to get them today!

  1. Antibacterial Wipe

There’s no better way to clean a surface that both teachers and students touch all day than with some antibacterial wipes. Whether it’s Cholox, Lysol, or an off brand antibacterial wipe, they are great for wiping down desks, doorknobs, pens, pencils, and any other possible thing you can think of. They come in handy instead of using an antibacterial spray and wiping surfaces down with a paper towel. They are pre-moistened wipes that are ready to go as soon as you take one out of the container. Perfect in any setting, Miami teachers would appreciate these for wiping down common surfaces that both teachers and students touch daily.

  1. Antibacterial Soap

The single most important PPE item to get is antibacterial soap, but why? Because it not only will keep your hands free from harmful bacteria and viruses, but in a school setting, it can teach kids how important hand washing really is and how to properly do it. Students should also learn not to touch their eyes, nose, and mouth to prevent spreading the virus, but also to wash their hands before eating, drinking, before treating a cut or wound, and even after using the toilet. Soap is important for the lives of students at school to not only keep them healthy, but to keep the teachers healthy as well.

  1. Paper Towels

Paper towels are extremely necessary when it comes to cleaning classrooms. Your safest bet when it comes to cleaning would be getting antibacterial wipes, but if those aren’t available, then paper towels and bleach or even an antibacterial spray work perfectly. Paper towels are a great tool in a PPE kit because they are easily disposable after each use. Many people use towels, which if used over and over again can spread viruses and other germs that may not really be safe in a classroom. With that being said, make sure to purchase some paper towels for Miami teachers to clean up after their students and keep everyone safe!
