Why is Personal Protective Equipment Important?

Simple items like a face mask and hand sanitizer can help protect yourself and others from the spread of the coronavirus and other illnesses

Personal protective equipment is important to help keep you safe, along with others.

Personal protective equipment, or PPE for short, is personal items that are worn to minimize exposure to certain illnesses, or even in more extreme cases, radiological, chemical, electrical, or other hazards that one can come across. While PPE is essential for individuals that work in places where serious injury is always a threat, it is also essential for everyday people as well.

In today’s day and age, the devastating effect of the coronavirus has left lasting effects on the economies everywhere and the people that live within them. With cases still being counted every single day, you can come up with your own PPE to protect yourself and others from spreading the virus. Everyone is constantly on the go, and there are many items that you need to make sure you have with you at all times. If you want to make sure you’re protected and safe while going out in public, make sure that you have these essential items with you at all times!

The Essential Items List That You Never Knew You Needed On the Go

Get Go wants you to make sure to protect yourself and others at all costs with these important items to create your own PPE kit!

There is a long list of personal protective equipment that you should invest in to keep yourself safe from the coronavirus and other illnesses.

As of today, there’s nothing more devastating than the effects of the coronavirus. While the symptoms range from person to person, and some being asymptomatic to the virus, and others having mild to extremely complicated symptoms, it’s important to protect yourself even if you are asymptomatic. By having simple items on you at all times like a mask, hand sanitizer, and so much more, you are helping to slow down the spread of the coronavirus. Check out this list of everything you’ll need to protect yourself when you go out in public!

1. Face Mask

Face masks are extremely important and a must as soon as you step foot outside your door. With the current mask mandate nationwide, it is important to carry one (or two) with you at all costs. This can range from cloth face masks, to N95 respirators, surgical masks, face shields, and so much more. With any of these masks, it is important to wear it over your mouth and nose when outside or in a public area. Masks help to stop the spread of germs or droplets from talking, sneezing, coughing, and more from travelling from one person to the next and at worst case scenario, infecting them with the virus, the flu, or even the common cold.

2. Hand Sanitizer

There’s nothing wrong with keeping hand sanitizer with you at all times. You can put one in your car, your purse, your pocket, and just about any place you can think of! Hand sanitizer is necessary and good to use after you touch everyday objects that people touch every day, like gas pumps, door handles, bathroom stall locks, counters, credit card machines, and much more. Hand sanitizer is a must because you can take it anywhere, it promotes cleanliness, you are at less of a risk of catching a disease, virus, or illness, and it even makes your hands softer!

3. Latex Gloves

Some people nowadays hate the feeling of touching objects that hundreds, or even thousands of people touch every single day, and there’s nothing wrong with that. With the world we live in now, it can make us all uncomfortable, so why not get yourself a box of latex gloves whenever you’re touching potentially germ-infested objects. With a simple pair of latex gloves whenever you’re at the grocery store, or even just pumping gas can help protect you and others from transmitting, or spreading deadly germs. Keeping these in your car, your pocket, or anywhere else where you can easily carry them around are essential when going out in public.

4. Sanitizing Wipes

We know that these can be hard to come by anymore, but if you can snag some sanitizing and germ-killing sanitizing wipes, and better yet, get them in a small package to go, then you will be set for staying healthy and clean. Sanitizing wipes are perfect to use on door handles, to wipe down the steering wheel in your car, wipe down your phone, or even to wipe down objects that you just purchased to ensure that they aren’t harboring any bacteria or viruses. These wipes are perfect to use anywhere or on anything to keep you safe and healthy while enjoying a day out and about.

5. Safety Goggles, or Wearing Your Own Glasses

If you wear glasses, then you’re in luck! With wearing glasses, it makes it less likely that you will touch your eyes, which is helpful if you’ve been out in public shopping, or going to a restaurant where you have been touching many different surfaces that might harbor bacteria and viruses. If you don’t wear glasses, then safety glasses work as a great alternative because eyeglasses of any sort, whether they’re your prescription glasses, or even just standard safety glasses, they make it less likely that you will touch your face or eyes. This helps to prevent germs from being transmitted from your hands to your eyes, which helps to keep you safe against the coronavirus!

6. Your Phone

Now we know that this may sound silly, but your phone is essential to helping to keep you safe. With all of the new methods of ordering groceries through curbside pickup, delivery, and even just contactless payment, this is one easy step to make sure you’re not coming in contact with as much bacteria or viruses that you could potentially spread from one person to the next. While we know everyone keeps their phone on them at all times, setting up contactless payment methods on your phone, like adding your credit or debit card onto your Apple or Samsung Pay, you can avoid touching your card and inserting it into a potentially germ-ridden card machine. This is an easy and essential way to cut back on how many foreign objects you are touching to protect yourself and others!
